From Go Fish to Cribbage, card games have fostered connection across generations for decades. Cards are affordable, portable, and interpersonal-making them an accessible therapeutic intervention. This training is geared towards professionals in agency, private practice, and school settings who work with clients of any age. Participants will learn the rationale, theory, and research behind using card games in play therapy to address contemporary mental health concerns and foster resilience, including how card games specifically facilitate the following therapeutic powers of play: Stress inoculation, stress management, therapeutic relationship, creative problem solving, self-regulation, and self-esteem.
